Run Ghost in India on NABHCLOUD: one-click setup, HTTPS, custom domain, and built-in support for memberships and paid newsletters.
Ghost is an open-source platform built for publishing blogs and newsletters, with built-in support for memberships and paid subscriptions. It is quick to load, works well with Markdown, and keeps the focus on writing.
Set Ghost up from our app store with a single click. view plans and pricing
Ghost needs our Starter plan or above. Current plans and prices are shown on this page. The monthly rate excludes GST and includes HTTPS, support for your own domain, and a GST invoice. Your Ghost instance runs out of our Noida data centre.
Installing brings up Ghost along with its database. Open the address shown, go to /ghost to set up the owner account, choose a theme, and begin writing.
Ghost is built on Node.js with a single purpose: putting your writing in front of readers, whether through the web or email. You write posts in a block-based editor, themes use Handlebars templates, and both free and paid memberships are a core part of the platform rather than an add-on. It is released under the MIT licence, so its full source is open for you to inspect or modify.
Two points often catch new users off guard. First, Ghost works only with MySQL 8 in production, so unlike WordPress, you cannot simply swap in a different database engine. Second, the site address you configure matters more than it seems, since Ghost uses it to generate every link, RSS item and email, so an incorrect URL turns up in places you may not notice for weeks.
Everything specific to your install is stored in the content folder: themes, uploaded images and files, and editor settings. Back this up alongside a MySQL export. The admin area is found at /ghost, and inside the container, Ghost listens on port 2368 by default. Paid subscriptions run through Stripe, so you will need your own Stripe account and should confirm it supports your type of business.
| Workload | Plan | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A personal blog or small publication without members | Starter | Serving posts alone is a light load for Ghost, so Starter is sufficient to begin. |
| A newsletter with a few thousand free members | Starter | Mailgun handles delivery rather than your server, so most of the load comes from admin tasks and imports. |
| Multiple publications, or a large archive full of images | Pro | Gives extra disk and memory for MySQL and for Ghost's image resizing. |
Starter gives 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM and 20 GB disk space, supporting up to 2 apps — enough to run Ghost alongside your own code on one server. Current plans and prices are shown on this page; longer billing terms work out cheaper per month, billed monthly before 18% GST.
Install Ghost
It's at /ghost on your app's address — for instance, https://yourblog.apps.nabhcloud.com/ghost.
Ghost delivers newsletters using Mailgun's API. Enter your Mailgun key in Ghost's settings; plain SMTP connections are not permitted on our app hosting.
Back up the content folder and a MySQL export. The export contains posts, members and settings, while the folder holds themes and uploaded images. Store a copy away from the server too — our S3 storage is one option.
Yes. Ghost's importer accepts Substack export files directly, while WordPress content comes across using the JSON export from the Ghost migration plugin. Expect to clean up images and embedded content manually afterward.
Pick an app from the store, select which app server to install it on, and click Install. It receives its own HTTPS address, passwords are generated and shown to you once, and the app is live within a couple of minutes.
