Run Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool, on NABHCLOUD's app platform. One-click setup, HTTPS, your own domain and GST invoicing from our Noida servers.

Track your website traffic with Umami, hosted in India

Umami is a lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics tool. It shows you who is visiting your site, which pages they open, where they came from and what device they used, all without setting cookies or passing visitor data to any outside company.

Install Umami on our app platform with a single click. See plans

This app requires our Starter plan or above. Current plans and prices, along with applicable GST, are shown on this page. Every install comes with HTTPS, support for your own domain and a GST invoice, and runs on our servers in Noida.

Common reasons customers run Umami

  • Measuring site traffic without showing a cookie consent popup
  • Keeping visitor records inside India
  • Watching multiple domains from a single dashboard
  • Logging custom actions, such as form submissions or button clicks

What takes place once you hit Install

The installer launches Umami together with the database it needs. It signs in automatically using the default account (username admin, password umami) — change this password right away. After that, add your website inside Umami and copy the tracking snippet it generates.

  • Your installation gets its own subdomain on our app platform, secured with HTTPS from the moment it goes live
  • Generated passwords are stored in your account so you can look them up again whenever needed
  • It runs continuously on a dedicated app server, with no need to touch SSH or Docker
  • You can view logs, restart the app, or point your own domain at it from the NABHCLOUD panel

About Umami

Umami was built as a lighter alternative for anyone overwhelmed by Google Analytics. A single screen covers visitor counts, page views, traffic sources, visitor countries, browsers and custom events. Because it stores no personal data and drops no cookies, the embedded script stays small. It is released under the MIT licence, built as a Next.js application, and listens on port 3000.

Each site you register inside the dashboard gets a script tag tied to a unique website ID. Drop that snippet into the head section of your pages and traffic figures start showing up within a minute. To track actions like clicks or signups, add a data-umami-event attribute to an element, or trigger the event with a short JavaScript call. There is no option to pull in historical data from Google Analytics, so counts begin fresh from your install date.

Two things to watch for. Ad blockers often block analytics files simply because they are named script.js, which can quietly reduce your numbers — renaming the file through the TRACKER_SCRIPT_NAME environment variable reduces this. Also remember to replace the default admin/umami login within the first hour of installing. Since all your analytics data lives in the database referenced by DATABASE_URL, make sure you back that database up regularly.

Setting up Umami, step by step

  1. Run the installer and secure it. Pick Umami from the app store, sign in with admin and password umami, then immediately change that password in your profile settings.
  2. Register your website. Go to Websites, add an entry with your domain, and copy the script that gets generated.
  3. Place the script. Add it to the head section on every page, or to your theme's header area, then open your site and confirm your own visit appears under Realtime.
  4. Log a custom event. Add data-umami-event=\"signup\" to a button and click it. Look under Events a minute later to see it recorded.

Questions about hosting Umami

Will I need a cookie consent banner?

Umami itself sets no cookies. Whether your site still needs a banner depends on what other tools you run and which privacy laws apply to you.

Can I bring in my old Google Analytics data?

No. Umami only counts activity from the moment its script goes live on your site. Hold onto any exported reports from before that if you'll need them later.

Why are my Umami numbers lower than my server logs?

Ad-blocking browsers, bots that Umami filters out, and visitors who leave before the script finishes loading all cause undercounting. Treat it as an estimate rather than an exact match to server logs.

Can other people view my analytics?

Yes. You can generate a public share link for any website, or create read-only user accounts for your team.

How does the one-click install actually work?

Pick an app from our store, choose which app server to deploy it on, and click Install. Within a minute or two it is live with its own HTTPS address, and any required passwords are generated and shown to you once.
