Forex VPS Guide: Picking the Right Plan for MT4/MT5

How to pick a forex VPS for MT4/MT5 — broker latency, RAM per terminal, Windows licensing, DDoS cover on news days, and RDP setup steps.

Guides

An automated trading strategy can only place orders while its terminal stays open and connected. Hosting MT4 or MT5 on a forex VPS keeps it live day and night, sitting near your broker and insulated from home power outages and Wi-Fi drops.

Current plans and prices for this service appear on this page, in Indian rupees, before GST.

Why traders move MT4/MT5 onto a VPS

An EA on a laptop stops the instant you close the lid, restart the router, or lose power. A VPS keeps that same terminal running inside a datacentre, so trading carries on whether you disconnect from RDP or power down your own PC.

Latency: check your broker's side, not yours

The latency that counts is between the VPS and your broker's server, not between you and the VPS. From our datacentre in Noida, servers in Mumbai sit roughly 40 ms away, Singapore (Equinix SG1) about 55 ms, London (LD4) around 125 ms, and New York (NY4) close to 215 ms.

Find out where your broker's server physically sits — check the server name inside MT4/MT5, or ask the broker's support desk — then weigh that against these numbers. Most retail EAs won't notice a gap of a few dozen milliseconds, though scalping strategies can.

Sizing RAM and CPU

Budget 300–500 MB of memory for every terminal you run, plus extra for your indicators on top of that. Backtesting through Strategy Tester consumes considerably more, so leave spare capacity if you optimise directly on the server.

  • A single broker with a few EAs: FX4-8-100.
  • Multiple brokers or frequent Strategy Tester sessions: FX6-16-150.
  • Prop-firm setups and copy-trading masters running many terminals: FX8-32-200.

Windows licence, DDoS defence and snapshots

MT4 and MT5 only run on Windows. Our Forex VPS plans run on Windows Server 2022, licensed and preloaded with the MT4/MT5 prerequisites, so you won't pay a separate licence fee.

Denial-of-service attempts tend to spike around NFP releases and central-bank rate decisions. We place every server behind Cloudflare Magic Transit, a filter that cleans this traffic before it ever touches our datacentre, and this protection costs nothing extra. See DDoS protection.

Capture a snapshot, free of charge, before updating any EA. If the new version causes problems, you can roll it back within minutes.

Getting MT4/MT5 running on your VPS

  1. Spin up a Forex VPS

Pick a server size — start with hourly billing if you're still testing — and note down the server's IP address and admin password shown in the panel.

  2. Connect through RDP

Open a Remote Desktop app on a Windows PC, or any RDP tool on macOS, Android or iOS, and sign in using that IP address and password.

  3. Install the terminal

Download MT4 or MT5 from your broker from inside the VPS, log in with your trading account, then copy across your EAs and indicators.

  4. Turn on automated trading

Attach the EA to the relevant charts, switch on algo trading, then close the RDP window while staying logged in, so trading continues in the background.

How billing works for traders

Forex plans are priced monthly, with current rates and terms shown on this page, excluding GST. You can test a broker on hourly billing, subject to a 1-hour minimum, then switch that same server to a 12-month term, which works out cheaper per month than staying on hourly billing. Settle payments via UPI, debit or credit card, or net-banking, and receive a GST invoice; USD payment is available if you trade from outside India.

Questions on this guide

Will my EA stay active if I shut RDP?

Yes. The terminal keeps running on the VPS itself. Close the RDP connection while staying logged in, and the EA carries on trading.

How many terminals can a single VPS run?

As many as your memory allows — each terminal uses roughly 300–500 MB on top of its indicators, and Strategy Tester needs extra headroom beyond that.

Is a broker in Mumbai too distant from a Noida VPS?

The round trip is about 40 ms, which suits most EAs fine. A Mumbai region is in the works, and a snapshot can move your server there once it's live.

Does the forex plan include the Windows licence?

Yes. Every Forex VPS plan includes a Windows Server 2022 licence as standard, bundled into the plan price.

Is a forex VPS shielded from DDoS attacks during news events?

Yes. We route every server through Cloudflare Magic Transit, a network layer that cleans out booter traffic before it ever reaches our datacentre, and this comes at no added cost.

Can I trial a broker before locking into a term?

Yes. Start on hourly billing, with a 1-hour minimum, then move that same VM onto a 12-month term for a lower monthly rate.
