Run self-hosted Mattermost team chat in India with NABHCLOUD. One-click setup, HTTPS by default and GST invoicing included.
Mattermost is an open-source team chat platform you run on your own server, a self-hosted alternative to Slack. It gives you channels, direct messages, threaded replies, file sharing and integrations, along with desktop and mobile clients. With NABHCLOUD's one-click installer, the Team Edition gets deployed together with a PostgreSQL database on the server running your app.
This needs our Starter plan or above; current plans and prices are shown on this page. Every plan includes automatic HTTPS, the option to use your personal domain, and a tax invoice for GST purposes. Your server is hosted in Noida. View our app hosting plans
Installing sets up Mattermost alongside PostgreSQL. Visit the application's web address and register the first account - this account automatically becomes the system administrator. From there, build your team and send colleagues an invite link.
Mattermost puts you in charge of your team's communication: channels, threaded conversations, direct and group messaging, built-in search, slash commands, webhooks and file sharing, accessible via desktop, browser or mobile apps. The Team Edition, which is the no-cost version, is built using Go on the backend with a React-based interface, and it relies on PostgreSQL as its database. The service uses port 8065 to listen for connections, and it stores uploaded files in its data folder - meaning backups should cover the database alongside that folder.
Settings live in config.json, although the System Console can change most of them, and any environment variable starting with MM_ will take priority over the file. Your first task should be setting the Site URL correctly, since it determines the links sent in notifications and emails, and mobile clients rely on it to locate your server.
Understand what's missing from the free version. SAML-based single sign-on, enhanced compliance tools and high-availability configuration belong only to the paid tiers. Additionally, by default mobile push alerts route through Mattermost's own hosted push relay, a free test service offered without guarantees. If your organisation relies on phone alerts, either build your own push proxy or be upfront with users that notifications might arrive late. Webhooks - connecting tools like CI, monitoring or n8n - make a solid starting integration.
| Workload | Plan | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A team of roughly twenty-five people with moderate file sharing | Starter | Go itself is lightweight; what matters more is PostgreSQL performance and storage for files. |
| A bigger team with heavy integration use and large uploads | Pro | Search indexes and stored attachments expand as usage grows. |
Comes with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB of disk space and room for up to 2 apps - enough to run Mattermost alongside your own code on one server. Billed monthly; current plans and prices are shown on this page, excluding 18% GST.
Yes - simply point the official Mattermost client apps to your application's address.
Starter works well for a small team. If your team is bigger or shares a lot of files, go with Pro or Business instead.
This is the Team Edition - free to use, and it skips paid Professional or Enterprise extras like SAML single sign-on.
By default, notifications route through Mattermost's complimentary push relay meant for testing, which might lag. Run a push proxy yourself if you rely on these alerts.
Select an application from the catalogue, decide which app server should host it, and press Install. It receives its own HTTPS address, its passwords get generated automatically and displayed once, and the whole thing is live within a couple of minutes.
